How information is handled

Breakpointengineering.eu provides information about the project and operates the connection to Jeffery. The public Jeffery page displays whether the printer is open, closed, or offline and allows messages to be sent for printing while the service is open. The handling of message data is described below.

Website hosting and access logs

The website is hosted by Bieber IT GmbH, operating under the Host-Unlimited.de brand, Braunschweiger Straße 22, 38518 Gifhorn, Germany. When the website is accessed, the hosting infrastructure may process technical information such as the IP address, date and time of access, requested resource, referrer, browser type, operating system, and response status.

This processing is necessary to deliver the website, maintain technical stability, and protect it from misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in providing a secure and reliable website. Host-Unlimited’s published privacy notice describes the use of server logs but does not state a specific retention period for this hosting product. The precise period will be added here after confirmation from the provider. Logs may be retained longer where required to investigate a security incident or comply with a legal obligation.

Contact by email

When contact is made by email, the supplied contact details and message content are processed to respond to the enquiry. Depending on the subject, processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR when the communication concerns steps before entering into a contract. Messages are deleted when they are no longer required, subject to any legal retention obligations.

Cookies, analytics, and external content

The public website does not intentionally set cookies, use analytics or advertising services, embed third-party content, or load fonts from third-party servers. A technically necessary, short-lived session cookie is used only when the private admin area is accessed. The site uses only files delivered from its own domain.

Encrypted transmission

The website uses HTTPS/TLS encryption when the hosting configuration and certificate are active. Encryption protects data while it is transmitted between the visitor’s browser and the website, but it cannot provide absolute protection against every security risk.

03 / MESSAGES SENT TO JEFFERY

From the website to the printer

Information entered into the message form is sent to Jeffery, a receipt printer located in the operator's private residence. The service processes the information needed to receive, deliver, and print the message.

Information processed

A submission contains the message text and a sender name. The submission time and technical delivery or print-status data are also processed. The hosting infrastructure may additionally record the technical access information described under “Website hosting and access logs.” The message text is required to carry out the requested print; without it, the message cannot be sent to Jeffery.

Purpose and legal basis

The information is processed to transmit and print the requested message, display its delivery status, operate the feature reliably, prevent misuse, and investigate technical or security problems. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interests in providing the requested experimental printing feature and protecting it from abuse.

Where the message goes

The hosting provider processes the web request as part of providing the website. The message is made available to the Raspberry Pi connected to Jeffery and becomes visible to the operator as a physical printout. No disclosure to additional recipients or transfer outside the European Economic Area is intended.

Storage and deletion

Message content and related status information may be temporarily kept in a private administrative message history. Routine records are deleted when they are no longer needed to operate and review the printing service. Individual records may be retained for longer where necessary to handle misuse, investigate security incidents, establish or defend legal claims, or comply with a legal obligation.

Deletion of a stored digital message can be requested using the contact address above. Once a message has physically printed, its transmission cannot be recalled. Messages should therefore not contain sensitive information or personal data about another person unless there is a lawful reason to provide it.

Automated decisions

Message submissions are not used for automated decision-making or profiling.

Control over personal data

Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, data subjects may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Where processing is based on consent, consent may be withdrawn for the future.
